Since the Hertler family opened the store in 1906, it has evolved from a livery stable and feed mill into an urban emporium for garden supplies, plants for your house (and in season plants for your garden & home), classic housewares, durable outdoor clothing, quality dog gear, and unique kitchenware.
We love to showcase our rich history, but we survive by our willingness to adapt to change. Location: We are located in the center of downtown Ann Arbor at the corner of Liberty and Ashley. Please note: Ashley Street is one-way heading north.
Parking: While outdoor plants are staged in our parking lot, parking is available on the street or in the ground lot at Ashley and William less than a block away. Our drive-thru is limited to one lane for picking up completed orders only.

Check out lines are designed for social distancing. Folks actively purchasing may stand in line, we ask that no grouping occurs in line, non purchasing folks may wait for their family outside of the line formation.

Parking is available in our attached lot on the corner of Liberty and Ashley. Our drive-thru is limited to one lane for picking up completed orders only.

We are an in-person retail store at heart. We do not offer any e-commerce. Our website gives a glimpse of our culture and diverse general store-meets-garden store-meets-kitchen and housewares-meets outdoor furniture… etc. We are much more than can be experienced from a computer. We invite you to visit when you can. We understand that your trips away from home need to be purposeful and fruitful.
